I cannot help but be so sad because that hotel is really in a great location for Dollywood, the main transit station, as well as the old mill shopping area. However, their poor handling of the situation didn't help my newly acquired, negative view of this run-down hotel. Sadly, they had some very irresponsible guests that caused that. To be clear, I do not blame management for the flood. We were finally able to find something at around 7 pm. My sister and I sat in the lounge area and searched for housing for several hours. Though I was reimbursed the cost of the remainder of the week, as well as a good portion of what we had paid for that first night, the "help" to find new accommodations amounted to calling one hotel, where no one answered. My sister and I left the others at the park to pack up and move somewhere else. There was no information available to me as to whether our things had been damaged (they turned out not to be), but was reassured that help finding accommodation elsewhere would be given us when we arrived back at the hotel. In the early afternoon, I received a call from Riverside Towers that, due to someone tampering with the emergency sprinklers in their room, that our floor was flooded and we would need to move hotels. Then, after figuring out the trolley system, we went to Dollywood. The pancakes were top-notch and the service was friendly and efficient there. On Monday morning, we went to the pancake house across the street for breakfast, using the free vouchers provided by the hotel for the pancake breakfast. All things considered, we had the space we needed and location we needed. At this point, though, we were satisfied enough. There was mold in the shower and there was clear water damage, complete with peeling paint, around the window (see photos). the sliding door for the back bedroom was off-track. That was room adequate, though it had some very visible maintenance issues. (Does the cleaning staff not communicate with the front desk when rooms were clearly smoked in? This was not just a single cigarette, the smell permeated the room!) We were then given the key to Room 612. After confirming with the sign on the door that this was a non-smoking room, I went downstairs to ask for another room. As soon as I opened the door, the stench of cigarette smoke just about knocked us over. We arrived late Sunday night and received a key to Room 608.
